Requirements
The role requires 8+ years of full-stack experience with expertise in Ruby, React, TypeScript, and GraphQL. You must be a systems thinker capable of designing scalable architectures and maintaining high standards for reliability in financial workflows.
Responsibilities
You will lead the design and delivery of a new billing platform, owning the architecture from data models to backend services and frontend experiences. You will also partner with product and design teams to translate complex requirements into shippable, high-scale technical solutions.

Learn more at https://www.gethealthie.com/ About the role Billing is how our customers get paid, and it touches every part of Healthie: providers, patients, payments, reporting, and compliance. We’re rebuilding it, and you’ll be the technical lead. You’ll own the architecture for the new billing platform end to end: data models, backend services, GraphQL APIs, and the React/TypeScript experiences on top. You’ll set the technical direction, make the calls on what to build and how, and work directly with Product and Design. This is a greenfield-scale build inside a production Rails monolith that 40,000+ providers already rely on. What you’ll do Lead design and delivery of the new billing platform, from architecture through launch Make and document the key technical decisions: data modeling, payment flows, reconciliation, and how the new system coexists with the current one Build across the stack in Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, React, and TypeScript Set the bar for correctness in financial workflows: testing, observability, auditability, and safe rollouts Run design reviews and mentor engineers on the team Partner with Product and Design to turn complex billing and payer requirements into clear, shippable scope What makes this role different Real ownership. Public roadmap. Customers see what we’re building and hold us to it. About you Proven & Technical: 8+ years of experience building and shipping production systems across the full stack. Strong expertise in modern web technologies such as Ruby, React, TypeScript, and GraphQL, along with experience designing backend services, APIs, and data models that support complex, high-scale applications. Systems Thinker: You think beyond individual features and consider how systems interact across services, data layers, and user experiences. You are comfortable designing scalable architectures and solving complex technical problems that span multiple parts of the platform. Quality Obsessed: You believe reliability and correctness are critical, especially in systems that power financial workflows. You write clean, maintainable code and ensure it is supported by thoughtful testing and observability. Technical Leader: You naturally lead technical initiatives, guide architectural decisions, and help teams navigate complex engineering challenges. You raise the bar for engineering quality through design reviews, mentorship, and thoughtful collaboration. Builder & Collaborator: You enjoy partnering closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate complex requirements into well-designed systems and intuitive user experiences. The salary for this position is a base between $240,000 - $280,000 plus equity, annual bonus, & benefits.
